APQS Lucey longarm!

Say hello to my new best friend! I've  renamed her Lucille! I've been debating whether or not to buy a LA for a while now. I knew I was going to have to take out a loan for her. I finally bit the bullet and went for it! I couldn't be happier! I loaded up some cheap muslin and practiced for a week and now I finally have a real quilt on her. I owned (actually still own) a midarm but it just wasn't that great. Cheap. I bought it and the machine used for $900. You definitely get what you pay for. I can't believe the difference in the two setups.

I am quilting a few gift quilts on her first and then I will be doing customer quilting.  I'm  slowly going to build a longarm business. What do you think about 'Not Sew Perfect' for a name? I'm still thinking about that part. I'm really wanting something with Sew and Perfect in the title. Anyways, I Know it's been a while since I've put anything on here. I've had 'sew' much going on. 😊  Enjoy the photos!

We Have A Winner!!!!!

Thank you everyone that participated in this little contest!  I appreciate each and every suggestion!  This was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I did finally pick a winner.  Drum roll please.......Kyeen McPherson you are my winner!  The title for this block will be named Butterfly Symphony!  I felt it was very fitting considering that the rest of the block does sort of look like a stage and the butterfly is performing.  Now all I need is your suggestion as to what we need to stitch in the blank space Kyeen!  No pressure!  lol  Again, thank you all so much for being a part of this!  I can't wait to start stitching this block!

Name That Block! Starting now!

Well here it is! My newest sketch. What to name her? I have no clue. Help me out! What do you think I should name it? Comment below with your suggestions and I'll pick a winner on Sunday August 16th. Notice there is an unsketched area around the butterfly? Yeah I need help with that also. What should I stitch in that area? Can't wait to hear your suggestions!

Name that quilt block!

If you have been following me on my Facebook group 'Free Motion Quilt Along With Ren' then you know that I am making a whole cloth quilt as you go quilt. I have been naming each block as I make them.  I've decided that my next block should be named by one of you! I haven't even started sketching it out yet but after I do, I will put a picture of it here on my blog.  I'll either have you pick names on your own or I'll pick a couple names and then you can vote. Which would you prefer? If you guys come up with a name I will be sure to mention the 'winner' when I post it. Well, what do ya say?! Wanna play?

Matching Elephant quilt and diaper bag

I made this cute little set for a close friend of mine. I fell in love with this bag! I almost made one for me lol. This was my first time doing applique. I did have a hard time figuring it all out but it ended up looking ok.

A Christmas quilt

I good friend of mine asked me to quilt this for her. We had a hard time getting my quilting frame level. The tracks had chips in them so it wouldn't move smoothly. I ended up doing an all over meander and tried outlining the deer and trees. Is not my best work :-(

Houndstooth

This is a quilt that I made with left overs from my son's quilt. I followed this tutorial,

The Houndstooth Quilt- Quilting Made Easy!: https://youtu.be/dc4u94lVYac

She explains it so well. It was very easy to follow. I had a hard time finding a backing fabric that matched. I ended up with these little monster things. Lol.  They're kinda cute! I played around with the quilting as you can see in the picture but ended up stitching in the ditch. I was in a hurry to finish it. Lol.

Purple power!

My mom sent me a picture of this quilt and said that she really liked it. She said if I ever had the time she'd like to have one like it. Well, I saved it to my phone and decided I would make it for her for christmas last year. She was so surprised that I made it. Lol. She said she even forgot all about sending me the picture. A few tears later and a big hug....love you mom!

Wonky star

I made this quilt for a friend of mine that helped our family out when my son and I had surgery. She quilts also and didn't expect this! I took her shopping with me and told her that I was making a quilt for my mother and needed help picking out fabric. She pretty much picked out all of the fabric for this quilt. Lol I made my own jelly roll with the fabric. Lots of fun!  I just love surprising people with gifts like this.

Queen Camo Quilt

I've made one quilt each so far for my kids. This is the one my son picked out. I let him pick the fabric and choose the quilting (which is a large meandering). This one was pretty simple and all that camo made it easy to hide my mistakes. 😉

The Weed Quilt

Lol.  Funny name for a quilt huh? Lol.  My kids named it that because one of the prints looks like it has weed on it. It doesn't. I think it's a type of fern maybe? Lol. Well I bought all of the green (other than the border) at a garage sale. I had to have a major surgery last year and had all of this fabric cut before hand but not pieced together yet. Since I couldn't get up and move around I hand pieced all of these blocks together. I don't think I will be doing that again. It was nice at the time because I felt like I was being productive. I ended up sewing on the border after I was all healed up. I quilted it on my gracie frame and gifted it to my lovely mother in law. It it's definitely a one of a kind. This was my first attempt also at using tissue paper to transfer a design. It worked out alright but I don't think I'll be doing that again. I did not like picking all of those tiny pieces of tissue paper off of my quilt. The pattern turned out ok though. 😉 I can't say I hate this quilt. It was quite a journey making it. I will always remember what I was going through when I see it. Do you have projects that you feel the same about? Almost all of my projects bring me memories of something. It's like looking through a scrapbook but not at pictures. Only quilts. 💕
